HOW TO VOLUNTEER
What We Do
Volunteers are the heart of the any social organisation, providing professional and clerical skills, time, energy, and personal commitment to building hope and make a difference.
Volunteers serve at The Africa Diaspora Council in three main areas:
1. Most volunteers work one day a week during business hours on a year-round basis. Opportunities include clerical support such as mailings, copying, filing, answering telephones, faxing, computer work, and basic research. Volunteers also participate in our speakers’ bureau for community groups.
2. Special events volunteers work in the evenings and on weekends, assisting with meetings, lectures, and parties, scheduled by the Council’s Events Office. These volunteers provide our guests with a welcoming atmosphere, information, directions within the facility, and any assistance to help events run smoothly.
3. Volunteers also work in the public environment areas. Work may include picking litter, pruning trees, maintaining gardens, flower & tree planting, pulling weeds and many more.
